Camping coffeemakers make it possible to drink coffee while traveling. Coffee is an integral part of many people's daily lives. Often not only because they like it, but also because drinking coffee has several advantages. For example, coffee can improve your mood, improve your physical performance and reduce the risk of various diseases. Moreover, it helps you burn fat and a cup of leut is a good source of antioxidants. Enough reasons to drink a cup of coffee every day, even when you're traveling!
Why a camping coffee maker?
With a camping coffee maker you can drink coffee wherever you are. Many people are annoyed by the fact that they can't get good coffee everywhere while traveling. In big cities you don't have to bring your own coffee stuff; often there are plenty of options. However, if you go camping or go to a hotel, good coffee is often hard to find. A travel coffee maker can be a perfect solution.
What to look out for when buying a travel coffee maker?
Are you planning to buy a travel coffee maker soon? Then there are a number of things to look out for. For example, it is useful to buy one that fits easily in your backpack. Probably it's already full of all kinds of other stuff, so it won't fit a huge device as well. And of course, that's not exactly the purpose of a portable coffee maker. Still, the size of the coffee maker also depends on the amount of coffee you are going to make with it.
The contents of the coffee machine
Are you the only one in the family who drinks coffee? Then a mini coffeemaker will do. Even if you're just the two of you, you can in most cases go for a small variant. There are special mini coffeemakers for the campsite. However, are there more people who want to use the device? Then buy a slightly larger one.
Buy a lightweight coffeemaker
It is advisable to buy a travel coffee maker that is not too heavy, so that it does not take too much extra effort to take it to the campsite. Also make sure the machine is easy to clean. Of course you don't want any leftover coffee muck in your bag while walking. That's why it's a good idea to buy a coffee maker that you can empty quickly and easily.
Choose the right material
Camping coffeemakers can be made of different materials. The choice of a certain type of material is often personal. For example, you can choose from a coffee maker with a glass jug, but also from a device with a thermos jug. In a glass jug it is best to keep the coffee warm for a while. You have to take care that the taste of the coffee does not become too strong. This is usually the case after half an hour. If you want to keep the coffee warm longer, it is better to go for a coffee maker with a thermos jug. This ensures that the right temperature and flavor is maintained for a longer time. Moreover, you can make several cups at the same time.
Go for good value for money
Of course, the price of a camping coffee machine is also important. For good coffee you often pay just a little bit more. If you're not that picky you can also just go for a cheaper one, but don't be afraid to spend some more money on a good machine. Once you've found a quality travel coffee maker, you can use it at home!
Filter coffee or espresso?
There are different ways to prepare coffee, even when you're traveling. When choosing a coffee maker, it's important to decide whether you prefer filter coffee or espresso. You probably know filter coffee from home, or from the office. When making filter coffee, ground coffee beans are put into a paper filter. Then hot water is poured over it. This creates fresh coffee. With espresso coffee, on the other hand, no filter is used. To make an espresso, hot water is pressed through finely ground coffee beans. Because of the high pressure a strong taste is created, so you need less of an espresso.
The choice for a travel coffee maker or an espresso machine could be based on the taste of the coffee, or for example on its health content. If you like an intense taste, go for an espresso machine. For a lighter coffee taste you'd better buy an 'old-fashioned' coffee machine. Is there no filter used when preparing coffee? Then substances are left behind that increase the LDL cholesterol in the blood. This increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. So when it comes to health, it's better to go for filter coffee. However, an occasional cup of espresso doesn't hurt!
Types of camping coffee makers
There are different types of coffee makers for the campsite. A good example of a camping coffee maker is the Presso X; a mini espresso machine with which you can make delicious, hot coffee by hand. This device works on a rechargeable battery, so you will be able to bring it to all your trips!
This device also comes with a changeable adapter so you can make coffee with ground coffee and Nespresso capsules (and B brand thereof).
Then there are also the cafeteria and percolator. This allows you to make delicious coffee in a user-friendly and inexpensive way. Do you prefer a larger cup of coffee (or tea)? Then go for the cafeteria. For making strong coffee, you can buy an espresso pot. This will regulate the right proportions of coffee and water for you. Handy! Both the percolator and the cafeteria need a heat source. Like a stove, or an induction hob.
There are also a number of different travel coffee makers available for camping with electricity. To be able to drink Senseo on the campsite, you can for example buy the Campeo. And there are a lot of other special camping coffee machines. Drinking coffee while traveling doesn't have to be difficult!
